Cleft lip? 😢

Question

Is there any other mums I could talk to going through the same?? My baby boy has a cleft lip and possible palate too.. Find out on the 7th.
I feel very down as I feel it's my fault 😢 
He also may have heart problems too.
Could really do with someone to talk too xx

My cousin and his girlfriend went through this last year. They found out at their 20 week ultrasound that she had a cleft lip and they got referred to a specialist to go further into detail. They told them she could have a heart defect as well but when she was born she was completely healthy other then the bilateral cleft lip and palate. It is slightly harder to feed a baby with cleft lip and palate but they made it through. She just had her first surgery 3 weeks ago to correct her lip and you can hardly tell she ever had a cleft they will correct the palate once she's a year and a half. The palate is slightly harder to fix. I wouldn't worry to much your baby will be fine. It will be hard the first month or so getting use to feeding them and all but once you have that all down pat it will be a breeze. I will be praying for you!

Hi. I'm a first time mom expecting in August. I have a lot of complications as well with my pregnancy so I understand what you're going through. You shouldn't be too worry because technology is amazing today. Baby will most likely have to go into surgery to fuse the palate together. Don't worry too much about it since there's nothing you can do to alter baby's development now (with the cleft lip situation).. Continue with taking your vitamins and eating healthy so your baby can grow nice and strong for the remaining of the pregnancy. Good luck. ❤️

Honey don't feel guilty.  some times these things are out of control. I found out my little boy has a heart defect most likely caused by my diabeties . I felt guilty for a while but remembered I've had this three times and he is the first baby with a heart problem. We cannot control these things but we can try to avoid the stress which isn't good for either of us anyways.
