Anyone else not want a baby shower/gender reveal party?

I want a baby shower for the sake of getting all my loved ones together and celebrating my baby. I feel awkward about the gift-giving part, as my husband and I can afford everything comfortably on our own. We did have a gender reveal party, which is a fun way to celebrate without the obligation of gift-giving. I will probably have gender reveal parties for my future children, but will be relieved not to have any more baby showers.

Not a fan of gender reveal parties, I just don't see the point. I guess it is a nice alternative to a shower if no gifts/ free baby stuff is needed/wanted.

I will def do a shower to help out with baby stuff and to get distant family together to celebrate

I hate hate hate gender reveal parties! No way. I went to one last summer and they did pink fireworks for girl and blue for boy but the actual fireworks didn't come out one color and nobody could tell if it was a boy or girl. Then it turned out to be a boy and the mom balled her eyes out she wanted a girl so bad.

My husband and I left laughing our asses and vowed never to do something so over the top and outrageous!! Plus if I should have a hormonal breakdown over the gender I'd like it to be only in front of my husband not 50 people!

I declined to have a wedding shower and I don't want a baby shower either. It's just not my thing- I don't enjoy games, small talk, or opening gifts with an audience. Lol- I love my friends and family but I'm a die-hard introvert. :)

what kind of gender reveal parties are you all seeing that so over the top. Im doing one but its only literally 20 people my family and its just going to be silly string for the gender and pool time :)

I don't want either. I want to learn the gender with my husband and enjoy the moment together. My MIL wants to throw me a baby shower so I can get gifts. While it would be difficult for us to afford things on our own, I don't want to. I live 2,000 miles away from anyone I would actually invite. The only people we live near are the in-laws and their friends. It would just be miserable and honestly I think I'd rather have a tighter budget.

Gender reveals are silly to me, but a baby shower?! Yes please 😁 I just had mine and loved celebrating our baby with family and friends and getting gifts! Mine was just simple. They set up a pretty table with food and drinks and we didn't play any cheesy games. Just hung out with ladies I love and opened gifts!

I didn't have a Gender reveal with my first son and don't plan on it with baby number 2. Baby shower on the other hand was amazing because Babies are expensive, life is expensive... I pretty much had everything I needed for his first year and some! -<3

I didn't want a shower. We ended up doing a small party with siblings and parents and it ended up being a good experience.
