First Time Moms--How did you tell YOUR mom?

Question

I'm excited to be expecting, but I have NO absolute clue how to tell my mom. She's gonna be thrilled, of course. But I'm not sure a phone call or just outwardly saying "Mom, I'm pregnant" is going to cut it for me. Any idea for creative reveals to parents? 💕

We live far away from my parents so we sent them gifts and watched them open them over Skype. We got my mom children's books, "how to babysit a grandma" and "how to babysit a grandpa". And we got my dad a shirt that says, "this is what an awesome grandpa looks like." We had them open them at the same time. It was great! They both cried and bursts out laughing. It was so fun. Wouldn't change a thing.

I gave her a box with a pair of baby shoes, when she open it she was like " oh they are cute" then she was like "whaaaat?"

The way I planned to tell my mom ended up not happening but I'm thankful it didn't. I am from Baltimore and my mom is a HUGE Ravens fan. I had bought her a onsie and was planning to send it to her when I was further along. I wound up in the hospital from what we thought was a miscarriage on my birthday. My sister was driving to Ohio where I am now living to see me for my birthday and I had to call and tell her that 1. I was pregnant and 2. She needed to meet me at the hospital instead of my house. What I didn't know was that my mom was in the car surprising me for my birthday. We both ended up getting surprised that night! The best part was when I called my mom told my sister to say a prayer to our granny that everything would be okay and not 5 minutes later they saw a shooting star! I take that as a sign that my baby is being looked after until I can hold him/her in my arms!

I invited my parents over for dinner and told them I got a special bottle of wine. I made a personalized label for the bottle that said "drink this for me, I'll join you soon, baby keegan is coming in June". I have it to my dad to open and they LOVED it!

I bought a pacifier and attached a little card that said "dear grandma, please keep this at your house in case my mommy forgets to bring one when I come over! Love baby Mitchell... Coming July 2016!"

My husband and I asked my parents if they had plans for April 9th and if they knew what they were doing that day.  They were really confused, because that was more than 6 months away.  Then my husband said, "We were wondering if maybe you wanted to become grandparents that day."   They freaked out!!  It was such a great moment!  We did the same thing for my sisters and asked if they wanted to become aunts that day.  It always got such a great reaction!

My mom I just called and told. I was way excited and didn't expect it to be positive.
My grandmother, I gave her a baby bottle with a clear blue pregnancy test inside. :) she loved it.

I live across the country from my parents, so I called and told them that they needed to book a trip out to see me in April because they would have a new grand baby to meet!
