My IUD Experience
This is just for anyone who is curious and considering!
I got a Paragard when I was 19 years old and I have never had a problem with it. When it was put in it was a little uncomfortable and I spotted, but all of that was normal. It's also normal to cramps and have heavier periods.
My periods were heavier for the first 6 months which I didn't consider to be bad because this particular IUD can be left in for 10 years. Now, a year and 3 months later, my periods are the same length as before but they are a bit different. They're not any worse but the days I bleed the most have changed.
I chose Paragard because it is hormone free! It works because it is covered in copper which makes the uterus an acidic environment. It also prevents an egg from implanting in the wall.
