kidney stones ??

I've been having excruciating back pain.. I have history of kidney infections and UTI's. so today at my regular appt they did a urinalysis and said there is blood in my urine but no signs of infection.. they ordered an ultra sound for my kidneys to see if I have kidney stones .. has anyone else gone through this ? I'm also have light period like cramps but at times they're very consistent.. the back pain is AWFUL! someone give me some insight and if you've had something similar... with that being said- my dr said if it isn't kidney stones then he's going to chalk it up to just pregnancy pain..... would pregnancy pain make me have blood in my urine ? HELP!

Oh, I actually have a ton of insight on this topic. Last year, I started having pain in my side, like breathing hurt, and at the ER they found I had a bad kidney infection AND a stone taking up my entire right kidney. I went through 4 surgeries to remove it. After the 3rd surgery, (May 2015) they had said everything was taken care of, maybe a couple of easily passable pieces...yeah, not true. Around Nov, I started to feel pain and turns out to be a line of leftover stone pieces collecting in my ureter with a very large one at the bottom. When I peed, it felt like razor blades and there was blood in my urine. I could actually feel the large stone sticking out of the opening of the hole, it made sitting painful! Luckily, with another trip to the ER and a couple hours of being hooked up with fluids, I was able to pass this huge thing, over 1cm, the nurse said it was the biggest one she had ever seen. So to make a long story short, yes, your description does sound like a kidney stone. I hope not as bad as the one I went through, but make sure to drink tons of fluids and keep communication with your doctor and if the pain is bad, go to the ER. Best of luck!!!!!!
