When can you get induced?

Hey ladies, I am 31 weeks preg. I am a teacher and just looking at my calendar *trying* to get an idea of how late I will make it at work! I will be 40 weeks on June 3rd (my current due date- but he told me last apt baby is measuring a week ahead). Our last day of school is May 25th. I don't exactly want to be 39 +weeks pregnant and working on my feet all day... So I'm wondering- my last month of pregnancy (and work); when I go to the Dr weekly, can they induce or tell me approx how much longer I will have? Or do I just wait it out and will be completely surprised? This is my first baby so not sure how it all works. Just feeling a little anxious since work and pregnancy both seem to come  to a head at the same time! Thank you...

Most doctors will not induce without a medical reason. Also, measuring a week ahead does not mean your baby will come early  (in fact, most ultrasounds are inaccurate when it comes to babys weight). Anything more or less than a weeks difference is totally normal measurements. I personally would never consider being induced, as it has been proven to make labor longer and more stressful on the body and baby, as well as can affect your breastmilk production.  But, if it is something you are serious about just talk to your doctor and see what they think 😄

I was induced at 39+2 and I dont regret it one bit :) I did not need a csection and my baby girl is as happy and healthy as could be

You have to be at least 39 weeks to be induced. I don't recommend it though, inductions often end in c-sections. I had a fabulous pregnancy with my first and was 75% effaced 2 cm dilated when I went in for my induction at 39 weeks. It ended with an emergency c-section and my sweet boy in the NICU for a few days. Just my experience though.

My doctor is going to induce me at 39 weeks . My baby is fine but on the other hand I am miserable . I'm 38 weeks tomo and I have had horrible insomnia and unable to keep hardly anything down throughout this whole pregnancy . I don't think you can be induce before 39 weeks though . Good Luck 🙂

In California you can get disability starting at 36 weeks. And then for 6 weeks post partum. My doctor took me out at 33 weeks and I'll get a paycheck until 6 weeks after birth if vaginally. You can go on maternity leave whenever you want.

Depends on your doctor. My doctor doesn't induce unless it's medically necessary. As for progress, toward the end, you'll start getting cervical checks, but even that can't give your a guarantee of when the baby will come.

I taught till I was 38 weeks pregnant with my first. Then I took off two weeks before just because I was so anxious about my water breaking while I was at school.
