Anybody else a CNA & pregnant???

Question

Im currently 5 weeks 3 days and i work nights.  The lifting/rolling of patients worries me. How far along did you work? Any tips/ suggestions.. i really need to keep my job as i have a 2 year old and there is absolutely no light duty. Its either you lift, etc or you dont work...

I'm 23 weeks and a full time CNA....make sure to ask for help always....if you already have been lifting before your body is use to it..just don't go over board...no picking them up by yourself.....lift with your legs...the moment u lift and you feel pulling in your belly stop...you can't go in some contact rooms...just be smart and safe...you will be okay...make it clear to them you are pregnant....

I worked 12hr nights through my whole first pregnancy my water broke at 39w4d right after I got off work that morning. And now I work 12hr days which in my hospital are busier times and so far at 27w3d I'm not having any issues lifting. You just have to be Careful about knowing your body's limit and when to ask for help. I am normally very independent so it was a struggle to me but I learned after a few mistakes with my first that I have to set my own limits. Also you can't care for pts with shingles...my hospital has a policy protecting me from any negativity about that. Compression socks, support belt, and lots of water will be your go to

My situation is a little different. As an RN my cnas were great in taking over the heavy lifting or asking a supervisor to help. I went out at 37wks because I was unable to perform cpr so I was putting my pts at risk. I've worked with pregnant cnas and they've said proper body mechanics, universal precautions, handwashing, always asking for help and staying hydrated most have worked well into their 3rd trimester. I'm not in this job but sort of similar, I work with babies from 1-3 including carrying, lifting, changing etc, I still do this now and I'm 30+1 I just make sure I'm very careful, and watch the weight, you should be fine but just listen to your body ☺️

I think working graves is worse than the strain! Bodies are amazing but sleep cycles are important. Just don't do too much, make sure you do two person transfers when necissary, if a patient is unsteady have another cna help just in case etc follow the rules of transfers etc. RN here but have done it all. I didnt work my first pregnancy as i was scared to miscarry but i need to work this time around. Ive been a cna for 4 years so its not like its my first day lifting all this weight.
