A Rough Monday Leads to a Happy Tuesday

Monday afternoon, I experienced the worst. Blood. Bright red blood filling my toilet. I called the on-call nurse at my ob's office, and she told me to just go to the ER. Not wanting to drive, I called my mom and my husband to see who could get to me first. They showed up at the same time, and we rushed to the closest ER. A transvaginal ultrasound, regular ultrasound, tons of blood work, and 5 hours later....I was miscarrying my vanished twin.
It was probably the worst feeling emotionally and physically. I was just sent on my way with no after care instructions. Just "wear a pad and follow up with your OB."
Fast forward to Tuesday. My OB was able to squeeze me in for an appointment yesterday, despite not having my hospital records yet. He explained that this was the rarity with vanishing twin syndrome. The vanished twin typically just goes away. In my case (of course) my body is expelling it. The good news happens here though. My OB asked if they had told me during the ER ultrasound what the sex of the remaining baby was. I said no, thinking we wouldn't find out for a few more weeks (I'm 15 weeks today). He asked if we wanted to know, and of course we said yes. He turned the ultrasound monitor towards my husband and I, and....
.....Clear as day... We are having a baby boy! My husband looked like he was going to explode from joy. I was just relieved that our baby was healthy, had a strong heartbeat, and was dancing around like crazy! I thought I would be disappointed that I wasn't getting the baby girl I've been dreaming about, but honestly I couldn't be happier with a boy. Even though it's crazy that I'm growing a tiny penis inside of me 😂😂😂.
September 21st can't come soon enough!
