When to announce a pregnancy

Hi- I'm 7.5 weeks along and my anxiously holding my pregnancy secret. I recently (6 months ago) had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I'm worried about when it's okay to tell people?

Better wait until the first 12 weeks to complete.

I think the 12 week mark is stupid. Risk is severely decreased but there is no "safe point" in pregnancy.. I ended up sharing my miscarriage, I didn't want to hide my own child from the world. She was my baby! We waited this pregnancy until we were 10 weeks just so we could absorb being pregnant in private... the minute you share your news the whole world will be offering you unwelcome advice. So share it WHENEVER YOU ARE COMFORTABLE!!

This is a really personal choice. I have often hard people like to wait until 12 weeks, but personally, I don't follow that rule. For announcing it to people other than family and close friends, yeah, go ahead and wait, but anyone you'd want to be there for you in the ups and downs, I'd say you can tell those folks as soon as you want. That way you go through this with support, no matter what. Much love to you and your little life!

I don't have the answer for that.  My first pregnancy was a miscarriage and I had told a number of people.  It was tough having to relay the loss.  So when I got pregnant again, I was much more cautious.  I still told my immediate family pretty early but I'm very close to them and we all stayed cautiously optimistic.  I still haven't told many of my friends and extended family and I am 11 weeks tomorrow.  On the other hand everyone at work knows, and has for about a week and a half, because they figured it out and I didn't feel like lying about it.

So very long story short, I agree with the other poster, tell people when you are ready.  And just like in my case, you may tell different people at different times, and that is okay.  Anyway, good luck :)

That's a very personal decision, I had a violent miscarriage in October with my first baby at 11 weeks. I am so so so so glad I did not tell anyone about the pregnancy yet because then I would have to deal with reliving the nightmare of the miscarriage over and over again. But I'm a very personal person and I don't like a lot of people knowing my business that's just me. If you feel comfortable talking to close friends and family then go for it :-)

I am 8w6d and have only told close family members and friends that if anything were
to happen, I would want their support. We are waiting until 12 weeks to announce it "to the world."

At first I only told close family and a couple friends and I just recently told my extended family (I'm now 21 weeks). I would've told them a little earlier if there was a good opportunity to but I decided to do it on Easter since we would all be together. I definitely wouldn't have told them earlier than the second trimester though. I was also able to announce the gender so it was nice for my family to find out that too.
