Tell me about your experience with metformin.

I've been diet controlled for 7 weeks now but it seems my fasting numbers are no longer controlled. The doc is saying he'd like to put me on metformin which really upsets me. I have near perfect numbers throughout the rest of the day and it's only been since I started having trouble sleeping that my fasting numbers are sporadically high.

I've done a bit of research on this drug but the side effects sound pretty scary.

What has been your experience with this?
