When other people casually talk about cancer 😨
I was talking to a coworker today about general health (they run like crazy and I've told them my husband's trying to get back in shape and lose weight and I'm sort of doing it with him for moral support) and they said that their main reason for getting healthy was because they've had like 4-5 people they know around the same age die of cancer. So im just sitting there trying to be sympathetic and I can just feel the anxiety rush through my entire body. It took a lot of effort to not go into an anxiety attack and there's no way in hell I would have let myself break down in front of them...very few people outside my friends and family know i had cancer. I can only recall ever telling maybe 3 people i worked with ever. Two were because i was on a special diet to prep for treatment and then i had to let them know i was going to miss a few days for it, and the other was because she noticed my scar and had just learned her grandkid would need a similar surgery. She was super respectful about it so i didn't mind.
Does this happen to anyone else? I know I'm okay at the moment but as soon as i hear someone just casually mention cancer like that I freak out 😟
(Hi, btw! I had thyroid cancer and have been cancer free for almost 4 years!)
