Surgical management of miscarriage

Amanda
Sorry to ask this on here but just scared! At the end of January I found out that my baby had no heartbeat on scan at just less than 11 weeks! A week later I had medical management at home. Since then I haven't had a period and was getting my hopes up that I was pregnant! I had faintly positive tests and hcg was slightly risen. Had a scan yesterday...I'm not pregnant...unfortunately there are some retained products from the miscarriage that are still attached to my uterus which is the reason my hcg was still risen! My consultant has advised me to have surgical management this time under local anaesthetic as there is a risk I will bleed and this way poses less risk than medical management again or General anaesthetic! Has anyone ever had this? What should I expect?
