Will my child be neglected if both parents work

Due to our circumstances, there's no way I could be a stay at home mom until maybe a year and a half after my first child is born. Yes, of course I'd love to stay home and be a part of every moment of my child's life but unfortunately he/she will have to be watched by family/friends when SO and I have work until he is further into his career. My mother made me feel really guilty at one point saying that you can see a difference between children who's parents are involved and those who aren't. Will I be missing out on a lot that first year and a half by working?
