I think the increase of diagnosed autism has to do with our increased knowledge. Before there were just a bunch of undiagnosed people that were known as *simple*

Also were healthier longer and having babies at ages that weren't possible before. Some studies have shown a possible link (no causation/guarantee) that older mothers may be more likely to have kids with autism. If that's true, that's only a teeny tiny part of the picture.

I know this is meant to stir feathers because of correlation vs. causation.

You do realize that part of the reason autism is diagnosed more now is because we know more about if, right?
My brother is autistic but wasn't diagnosed until he was in middle school because they just really didn't know enough about it.
