The day before you ovulation is the most fertile time. My reproductive endocrinologist says the day before , day of and day after are best days to get pregnant. Any other day is useless!

Also, I've kearntvthatbitvidntvtgecday the days SINCE since your last period, but the days BEFORE your next period that indicate ovulation date.
That's why it can be hard to predict! E.g. my cycles lately are 25-29 days long, average of 27 days. Therefore, if I'm 'textbook' then I probably ovulate on average day 13 of my cycle, and in theory days 11-13 are my top fertile days. But we are all individuals... Bodies are miracles etc etc... I've made love on day 12 in / cycles, but I've turned out to be 29 days long, so it was too early, especially if I'm a late ovulator.
I'm going to do an OPK next cycle to get an idea of my ovulation pattern to see if I'm early, textbook or late. I might do it a 2bd cycle, just to see if it's consistent, however I don't want to make a habit of it, don't want to feel obsessed or pressure.
