I'm dying to know what I'll be having but I'm confused about how soon I'll be told. I've seen on the web ultrasounds showing 12 weeks of pregnancy with a gender already! Is this accurate???

On ultrasound there bits look the same upto about 14 weeks if a girl they can be mistaken for boy as they can swell i was told boy up until my 20 week gender scan. Shes 100% a girl :)

It just depends on your doctor and how willing the baby is to cooperate. My baby girl didn't want to open up her legs so it took 3 times to get a 100% on her.

I think the earliest they can tell on an ultrasound is around 13 weeks, but the baby has to cooperate and it isn't very accurate. Most doctor offices refuse to do gender reveals until you are 18-20 weeks when you have your anatomy scan done, because it's more accurate and harder for them to mistake a boy from a girl (although it does still happen on occasion). There are places you can go that allow you to pay out of pocket and they will tell you as early as 14-18 weeks. I had my gender reveal completed at 15 weeks and 5 days with my daughter and it was accurate. The only other way for you to know the gender early is by blood test.

I know the blood tests around 12 weeks are very accurate, but I don't think ultrasounds are until 18-20.. I /think/ that's the average. The later you wait to check the more accurate it'll be
