Birth Control

So I just got birth control and I sort of lied to my BF that my doctor said I needed it... but the only reason I got it is because I'm tired of hoping for a baby.... we have been trying for almost 3 years and nothing.... I'm not giving up. I just feel like it's not the right time and I don't want a surprise baby. He wants to keep trying, we've talked about birth control but it is completely unacceptable.

Am I wrong for doing this?
