Taking my baby out??

So, my baby is 2 weeks old. She was born at 37 weeks and 3 days. I have sat in the house with her since she was born.. my husband does the shopping and won't let me go unless we have someone to watch her which I do not want to do.. we only live around his family and no one will obey my wishes in how I want my baby cared for... His Mom keeps telling him that I shouldn't bring the baby out for at least a month or two.. (she would be the one babysitting).. she has filled my husbands head up with so much crap! I know baby's shouldn't be kissed on or around the mouth, but he jumped on to me for kissing her on the forehead! Though he let his grandmother kiss all over her face! I was pissed.. his family is driving me nuts! Aside from my small rant, my question is, how long did you wait to take your baby out with you?

I've had 3 preemie babies and we were out and about as soon as we were discharged. My babies never got sick and actually did better than some full term babies I knew. The only thing I had people do is wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before holding baby. Anyone that was a smoker was not allowed to hold baby due to of third hand smoke and I was not about to have any of my babies have a breathing problem cuz of the smoke, plus I didn't want the smell on my precious baby. 
I'm a mom that hates being contained to the house, so I made sure with my doctors that it was ok to be out with my little baby, not one doctor told me I ever had to stay inside.

Ugh just take precautions. These crazy moms who stay in the house for months after its no wonder they are stir crazy. Keep baby covered up and go for a walk or go to the store. Again just leave them covered and it's fine. If the family is all over the baby already then I'm pretty sure a short jaunt to the store isn't going to kill your baby. Just pack up and go and they won't be able to say anything about it. It's your child too. If you feel you are okay to do it then do it.

I actually agree. Babies immune systems are SO weak, I wouldn't want to expose her to germs unless it was absolutely nessessary. What parenting wishes won't your mother in law listen too?

A week after with both of mine they were covered but I'm an Airforce wife my husband not always home to help me so if I needed stuff done i would have to do it myself.

Keep your baby at home for at least 40 days unless you really have to get out , like doctor apoitiments. You won't go wrong, trust me.

I'm in SoCal and flu is still raging out here. I take my little one out for walks and anywhere I can be outside. Until this flu season finally dies down I don't feel comfortable taking him into crowded indoor areas. He is 7.5 weeks old.

My daughter was born a month early, I took her out the day we got discharged. Needed to go to the store and get a bunch of stuff since we weren't fully prepared. I took her out with me a bunch of times before she was a month old, only to go to stores and get things we needed and she was ALWAYS completely covered in her car seat. I didn't start fully taking her out all the time until she got her one month shots

Out of necessity we had to take our 37w baby out right away. He keep him in his carseat with a canopy over him and that way no one messes/touches him...

I go straight to the store after I leave the hospital. I buy my tight granny panties my breast feeding bras and other comfortable clothes. If you feel like going out go out. My in law and mom are so old school that they would not go out for 40 days after delivery. Just watch out because there are weird people out there that will ask to see your baby and before you know it they are touching your baby's face or little hands. That I don't like and has happened to me with all my kids. I don't know how clean this people hands are. Do not allow your in law to control what you want to do. And talk to your husband because he being misinformed and take him to a docs appointment so the doc can assure him what is safe and not safe for baby.
