How much time did you take off for IVF?

I am trying to give my boss an idea of my schedule, and I need to know how much time to realistically ask off for. My doc said all I need is day of on egg retrieval and day of plus day after on embryo transfer. She hasn't experienced it though like y'all have. How much time would you suggest taking off for egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Please give me what can be done in addition to what you wish you'd done. Like if I would ideally take off four days, but could suffice on two... I have a job where I am on my feet about half the day, squatting and leaning often, and it requires heavy lifting here and there.

If I was doing it again I'd take off the whole time between retrieval and transfer. Recovery time is mostly based on how many eggs are retrieved. I had 24 retrieved and it took me 5 days to fully recover. I went back to work 2 days later but could barely walk and only lasted a half day (thankfully that was a Friday so I had more time off after that).  Everyone is different so I'd ask your boss to be flexible. Good luck!

Also my RE's office opens early when the IVF cycle starts so I was going to the office around 6:30 am for blood work and Ultrasound that way I didn't need to take off. With all that monitoring u can definitely use up all ur vacation days easily

I took of two days for my retrieval and I wish I had taken 3. Even though I only attended one hearing on that third day, the walk to the court house made my abdomen hurt. I didn't feel back to normal until probably 5 days but I think three days would have been sufficient for me. After transfer I'm taking the week off from work. I was told two days of bed rest and then I should be fine but I rather take off the full time it takes for implantation to just avoid stress. Disconnecting my email from my phone and everything. It sucks bc I have basically used up all my vacation/sick days but if/when this works it will be worth it.

My ovaries are really high, so I was in a lot of pain after retrieval. Used vacation, and needed a full week of recovery.

I had the day of retrieval and the day after as i do a lot of lifting. I left work early on a friday for transfer and luckily had the weekend off so really only 2 days all up

I took the day of the egg retrieval and the day after. I work on my feet in a hospital so I took the day of my transfer plus three days after. I didn't want to risk having to lift a patient or doing crp and it ruining implantation. I used those days to relax and take care of myself.

I took my egg retrieval day + the following day. The transfer I just popped out on my lunch break. It only takes a few mins and doesn't require any recovery. Very best of luck!

I took off on retrival day, then worked from home the next day. If you can work from home then definitely try to the next day. If not either take an extra day or have ur Dr write u a note for light duty for the next day at work.
On transfer day planning on taking half a day and work from home the next day
