I'm secretly seeing someone
Well, I guess it's not so secret anymore.
I'm married with two boys, 1 1/2 and 4. I just started seeing someone... My ex best friend. No, not like my guy friend from school, not like a friend from work, but my ex BEST friend. The one who I backpacking through Europe with, the one who was my maid of honor when I got married, and yes, the one who broke my heart when she said she didn't need my friendship any more, years ago.
We were just at a birthday party together and it was awkward. Like, 'WTF was that?!' awkward. She messaged me a few days later to apologize for the weirdness and asked if I wanted to meet up. So, I put on a smile, pretended everything was just fine and toted my kids over to the park to have a play date.
We both now have kids so we have somethings in common. We talked about them and our husbands and our jobs and the weather. But, it was weird and hard. I want to cry about all the years we lost as friends but then again, it wouldn't have mattered. We weren't ready to be friends again.
To those of you who have been through this or are going through this, I hope it gets better for you (soon!). I hope that the hurts can be healed. I know I haven't gained my best friend back but it's a step in a new direction. 💕
