Is it rude to disregard compliments?

To me compliments are so empty, they don't mean anything to me unless it's coming from an SO or someone I'm interested in. I just don't care for them. Depending on my mood I either say nothing and smile or don't smile and say thanks.

I would feel like I was being rude. But my boyfriend got mad at me and thought I was flirting a long time ago when I told people thank you on Instagram. Maybe it was because of an emoji? Idk but yeah.

I don't much care for compliments either. I didn't ask for your opinion and if I wanted it I would ask. However, I do have manners so I always say thank you.
