Sleepy Baby

My babe is 5 days old and he caught onto breast feeding almost immediately but he is so hard to keep awake while eating. I take off all of his clothes, burp him constantly, and adjust him to try to keep him awake.  His feeding times vary from every 1 hour- 4 hours and last anywhere from 5 min- 40 min. He has lots of wet and dirty diapers throughout the day but I'm concerned he's not eating enough. Suggestions?
