Slow Baby Development?

My baby boy is going to be 8 months old on April 24th. I keep getting messages from this app saying "your baby is 32 weeks and...." Well the last one said he should be pulling himself up to stand now but he can't even sit up by himself yet! Is this normal? Is he behind?

I never payed attention to those. My son learned to crawl at 6 months like a "wounded soldier" (I hate that term we used rug slug but I figured no one would understand) but took until 7-7.5 months to sit on his own. Also he babbles very little and is 13 months. He just has no interest in talking a lot. He will be alright. :)

When I was a baby I could stand up holding on to the table at 8 months. I think since babies sleep on their back now they develop slower and boys tend to be behind girls too.

Hi there! I know you posted this a while ago but I just saw it! My son just turned 9 months old and can't sit on his own. Did you son catch up? When did he start sitting on his own?

Absolutely not.... my baby just started doing that at 11months .... he should be sitting though...or soon

Physical therapy could help, just talk to your pediatrician :) I'm sure he will be okay

Look up early intervention if your area, your dr can also refer you to them, and get evaluated if concerned. If he had a big enough delay he will be able to receive therapies to help his development.

Everything I have read has said not to stress out about those things. Those milestone timelines are based on an average of when children tend to reach milestones. Babies will do things on their own and in their own time. If your doctor isn't concerned, then I wouldn't be concerned. My friend's 9 month old still hasn't crawled, is JUST now getting her first tooth, and also only recently was able to sit up. I'm not an expert though :) but if you are concerned, talk to your doctor and maybe they can suggest some physical therapy-type exercises to help :) best of luck!

Kids develop at very different rates, so I wouldn't be too concerned about him not pulling himself up yet. I would probably mention to his pediatrician that he isn't able to sit up yet and see what they say.
