Anyone know how to help milk come in faster?

My milk comes in on day 5. Sucks because I have 8lb+ hungry babies. I have a friend who's planning on making me the milk making cookies and I will nurse her on demand, but if anyone has any advice on other things I'm open!

My grandmother told me that a good dark beer will bring in the milk. She was a woman who never needed an excuse to drink a beer though :)

This is from Kellymom.com, and I found it very interesting (warning, it's a little lengthy):
"Milk production doesn’t start out as a supply and demand process. During pregnancy and the first few days postpartum, milk supply is hormonally driven – this is called the endocrine control system. Essentially, as long as the proper hormones are in place, mom will start making colostrum about halfway through pregnancy (Lactogenesis I) and her milk will increase in volume (Lactogenesis II) around 30-40 hours after birth.
During the latter part of pregnancy, the breasts are making colostrum, but high levels of progesterone inhibit milk secretion and keep the volume “turned down”. At birth, the delivery of the placenta results in a sudden drop in progesterone/estrogen/HPL levels. This abrupt withdrawal of progesterone in the presence of high prolactin levels cues Lactogenesis II (copious milk production). Other hormones (insulin, thyroxine, cortisol) are also involved, but their roles are not yet well understood. Although biochemical markers indicate that Lactogenesis II commences approximately 30-40 hours after birth, mothers do not typically begin feeling increased breast fullness (the sensation of milk “coming in”) until 50-73 hours (2-3 days) after birth.
These first two stages of lactation are hormonally driven – they occur whether or not a mother is breastfeeding her baby. (Continued)

You could try this. They have flaxseed, oatmeal, and brewers yeast in them which are all supposed to help milk supply. I just made a batch today to put in the freezer and tried a few and they are sooo good! Hubby approved too but was afraid that his nipples would start leaking lol

Pump! Pump! Pump! And pump some more! After baby is done feeding, Immediately start to pump. You wont express much milk becuase baby drank it all but your body doesnt know the difference. It will only think that baby is still trying to suckle and will soon produce more milk. It is similar to cluster feeding. Also, drink lots and lots of water and make sure your eating 5-6 small meals or are snaking all day long. Your body needs the water and nutrients to make the milk. Good luck!

I recommended an organic tea to my friend when she was having trouble making enough and she said it was incredible... Might be a little tmi but Im still pregnant and started drinking it because I didn't make enough milk with my first 2. After the first day I had some production already, when there was nothing previously. Called Yogi Women's Nursing Support. Good luck!
