Blankets at night... when did you give your child a blanket??

Question

Hey Ladies!! 
My son is 4 weeks old. When he naps in the swing or somewhere other than his bassinet I put a little blanket next to him and he seems to like it. I never give him a blanket at night in his bassinet because of SIDS. I'm paranoid? Other moms have told me they used the blankets and it would be ok. I'm just not sure about it...
We use this but it's so heavy he tends to sweat in it!

Mine is a week old and we swaddle her. She sleeps better that way. Once we stop swaddling we'll use sleep sacks I think.

I'm too afraid to give him one at night because I don't want him to pull it over his face and suffocate. He's usually warm anyway so we have him in his warm pjs and wrapped like this because he doesn't like his arms swaddled. If it's a little cooler well also put mittens on him so he'll stay warm

My son has had a blanket from his waist down since just about 2 months when we stopped swaddling him. I got him this morning (I work nights) to find he had pulled his blanket over his face. His nose and mouth were covered. I freaked and pulled it off right away. He was breathing and it didn't even phase him,this time. All I could do was watch him sleep for a couple hrs to make sure he didn't do it again. We had a sleep sack but he loved this blanket so we were good with it. Starting tonight he gets the sleep sack. I can't be worrying every night and watching him sleep.

I waited a year. At 2 years old he still prefers not sleeping with one and just tosses it off himself right away.

We keep the house at a comfortable 70F. In the summer he goes to bed in cotton and during cooler winter months he wears fleece pajamas.

My baby can't sleep without being swaddled. We use muslin swaddling blankets. They are breathable, but warm. I have a rather warm baby and she would sweat if it was any other material.

I did swaddle my baby's at all didn't use blankets till about 2 or 3 months old. I just dress them warm at night. Only time a blanket was used if I was there to watch them nap on floor or in rocker.
