Will you get your cervix checked weekly at your final months doctors visits?

My doctor stated its my decision but I don't know what to do?

Yup. I've had several and they don't bother me. I like having the information, and I'm well aware that they don't guarantee anything.

It's means absoulely nothing because a women can be completely closed and dialated to 10cm 5 hours later while a women dialated 3 and effaced 50 percent can be that way and have to be induced.

Cervical checks and dialation don't tell you a whole lot. I've had friends get SOOO excited that they were at 3cm...... And then they were at 3cm for weeks. Dialation doesn't bring babies- contractions do. We're not doing checks- my doc asked if I wanted to as well.

Anytime they go into your cervix there is a risk of infection and many other complications.

Every time they check your cervix you have a very high risk of infection. So the less they check it it's better. Checking your cervix isn't going to change anything, it just gives you peace of mind of how far along you are.

I had mine checked for the first time today at 35+5 and am already 90%effaced baby's head is super low and am a fingertip dilated. They didn't specify about checking every week but I'm sure they will. If not I may ask them to just for a progress update :)

Just got my cervix checked today at 37 weeks

He says its up to me, but since I was 2cm dilated, he suggested that he'd check again. Monday!!

I just had mine checked at 35+4 and my ob said we won't check again im having a scheduled csection at 39+3 and I wasn't quite a centimeter dilated so I'm thinking he doesn't see the point in checking me anymore because if I go into labor then I do but I probably won't lol
