Periods during pregnancy?

Question

Just curious! 
I've grown up thinking that if you're pregnant, you don't have your period. Am I correct?
Also, if you have sex and, say, conceive, will you get your upcoming period?

I'm just wanting to learn more on the topic! Thanks ladies.

When you are pregnant you don't have your period because no egg leaves your ovary to move to the uterus to be fertilised - plus periods are shedding of the uterus lining, which happens when there's no fertilised egg there to nurture. If you are pregnant the uterus can't shed because it is actually supporting a foetus (which evolved from the fertilised egg).

If you fall pregnant, you will not get your next period, and this is generally how you know you are pregnant.

Periods during pregnancy, while extremely rare, it can happen! But most of the time, no you wont get your period, in fact, if you end up having unprotected sex during your period, and say you end up getting pregnant, your period will stop in its tracks!

Some women get monthly bleeding when pregnant but it's not considered a period, although it mimics one. And if you conceive there's no way you'll start your next period unless you're one of the ladies that doesn't bleed like a period
