Hypnobirthing???

Question

Recently began researching hypnobirthing as a delivery "method". Just looking for feedback from others who have used this method or attempted to, and what your results were, positive, negative or neutral.

Any tips, tricks, or pointers for maximizing the potential of this method?

I half ass tried... I didn't believe it enough to fully do it if that makes sense. Now my sister did it and she really believed in it. I watched her birth video and was just in awe. She was sitting on the delivery table no IV no meds smiling, breathing out this kid. He was not small by any means and the docs just sitting there in awe. It was  amazing, plus baby was born in caul! It was beautiful really I wish i could get into like she did.

Practice breathing and visualizing before hand. Make sure the people in the room know to be quiet and peaceful. I had a chatty nurse who kept distracting me and then my breathing would be off and I couldn't manage my contractions. Had to politely ask her to stop chatting so i could stay focused.

I tried it but when I went into labour it all went out the window. I find it very difficult to relax and get myself into the zone though. My friend did it and she found it really helpful and had no pain meds at all x
