Rant about nurse....

Jan • Mommy to one special boy 💙Wyatt Levi💙 ❤ lost baby #2 at 5weeks 4days ❤ 💕 pregnant with #3 now due 12/29 💕
So last week I was 24 weeks pregnant and I was having some intense lower back pain, so I called my mom since this is my first pregnancy and she's been through this 3 times. She told me that when she went into labor with one of my sisters it started as lower back pain, so she advised me to call my OB doctor and let her know what was going on. So I call and her receptionists answers and I say "my name is Janice Jordan I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I'm having some sever back pain and some hot flashes" she then started to fuss at me for calling right before closing and asked me why didn't I call sooner. I told her that the pain wasn't that bad until now. She then said "wait until your contractions get ten mins apart or until you can't talk through them then go to the hospital" so I just said OK.... and she said OK bye. Well my first problem is that I'm 24 weeks pregnant I should not wait to go to the hospital if I'm having contractions. Second I never even said I was having contractions. Third you should not fuss at a pregnant woman for calling for advice even if it's closing time. And lastly if I was having contractions and was clueless enough to wait to go to the hospital then that could have been very dangerous to my baby. That woman could have caused me to loose my baby and she's not the doctor so she shouldn't be telling people things like that anyways. Sorry for this rant being so long I'm just dumbfounded by how unprofessional and ignorant people can be. But me and my baby boy are OK and I'm so thankful I wasn't going into preterm labor.

That's terrible. I would definitely file a complaint with the office, dr or the larger company if the office is part of a hospital system.

I'm definitely going to have a long conversation with my doctor about her. Because i love my doctor but if she says shes not going to do anything about it then im going to her boss because this was unacceptable.

I went to the ER for severe bleeding one morning at like 4am when I was about 10 weeks pregnant.. the nurse literally looked me dead in the eye and went "well dear things are streching". My reply "well dear unless you want me to have your job I suggest you get me to a doctor now". Turns out I was hemmoraghing out a sch!! But yes dear.. just streching..

I would file a complaint. Tell your doctor & if nothing is done speak to somebody higher up (if there is someone higher up)

The nurse definitely didn't handle it right but she gave you what advice she thought was best. If you're really worried, just go to l&d

She obviously hates her job.
