Is diarrhea really a sign labor will start soon?

Gross questions and tmi but I have been constipated for weeks then all of a sudden I have had diarrhea and I feel horrible. I have been having period like cramps since last night also. I was induced with my first son and that was almost 8 years ago so I have no idea what going into labor on your own is like. Any feedback would be fantastic! What happened before you went into labor?
