If you have tattoos yourself, can your kid get one too?

I have a friend who has several tattoos, some even on her neck and hands. She has a fifteen year old and a twelve year old. She usually says if she ever catches them with a tattoo they'll get in trouble this and that, and I always have to kind of refrain from being like... Well why wouldn't they want one when their mother is tatted from head to toe? In the same breath she defends tattoos and always says how they shouldn't effect someone getting a job or not (this woman is the cleaning lady at my job, so she's always compalining). I just don't get it. If you don't think tattoos should hinder success later in life why can't your kids get tattoos unless you're admitting that they can.
