Pumping shield/flange size?

Question

I'm a FTM so I'm sure this is a silly question.
The pump we bought came with the standard sized flange, but they can also be purchased in other sizes. 
It has a measuring guide, and right now the one it came with is too big. 
Is there any point buying the smaller one now, or will nipple size change once bubs is here?

I haven't tried to use a measuring guide but I would probably wait, because the only way to really tell is to have the pump on, as your tissue with expand and get sucked into the shield during pumping and it'll be clear then (to a lactation consultant at least, which you should have access to in the hospital or wherever you deliver) if the standard size is appropriate for you.

I never measured or anything the size of my pump flange.  If it were me, I would wait and see and as long as it works fine when I pump, I wouldn't worry about it.

Definitely wait a lot can change once your milk comes in. Also if you hospital has a lactation consultant chances are they have that stuff on hand and they'll help size you and usually give you a set to go home with.

I feel like mine is too big too. It came with the medium sized flanges but I showed my friend and she says it looks fine.. I would post a picture in the breastfeeding forum (you can do this anonymously) to get some answers there!

If you do have to buy  a smaller size I highly reccomend maymom on Amazon. I use it with my medela pump and it's awesome. I had to get a smaller size. Take it to the hospital with you and ask the lactation specialists.
