Is anyone else paying extra for their first trimester work ups to find out the gender? My husband and I are so impatient to know and our doctor said we could..

I just did the panorama test and got my results back. I'm just about 12 wks along...

Wait. I ASSUME it's covered by my insurance because my doctor said at my 10 week appointment, she's gonna have my blood drawn to check any abnormalities like Down's syndrome, etc. and I'll also get to find out what the gender is. So she made it seem like it was a necessity and not just something to do for the fun of it...

Did you guys ask if it was covered? Did the doctor just volunteer the fact that it wasn't medically necessary and therefore wouldn't be covered by insurance?

I'm paying extra for a 3d/4d around 15 weeks. We'll know the gender then. :) 5 more weeks to go.

I wanted to but my insurance doesn't cover it and out of pocket it is over $700 for the Panorama!

Lol I guess that's a "perk" of being an older mom, since I'm over 35 insurance is covering the testing for us. Get them done this week.
