Could my baby be colic??

My newborn is now 2 weeks old. At night and sometimes early evening she will nurse, and stop when she's done but the minute she lays down she screams really bad. The only way she stops or sleeps is if I'm holding her. Plus she's super gasy. I just feel bad for not being able to know exactly what's wrong with her or what to do for her.

It may just be the gas. Have you tried gas drops? I used Ovol for my daughter for a while about 3w old until now and she's 6m and only use it occasionally now. Google some positions to relieve gas in infants and you can try massaging her belly and then bending her knees to her stomach together and by cycling them and all that. Sometimes all Tha helps my dd is putting her over my shoulder so the bottom of her ribs are just past my shoulder and her stomach is pressing in slightly and to bunch her knees up and then I pat her bum and bounce her slightly. That seems to do well for her too.

I don't know how to tell if they have colic. But I believe it's pretty normal for newborns not to want to be put down. The first two weeks my newborn slept on me because it was the only way we both could get sleep. She didn't want to sleep anywhere but my arms. She just came out of you and just wants to be snuggled and held close because she's in this new strange place.

Unfortunately babies just cry sometimes, and often in the evening for no reason at all. My 3 week
Old daughter is asleep on my chest as I type - she won't sleep anywhere else in the evenings!

Colic is if they cry for hours at a time non stop and there's absolutely nothing you can do to comfort them/make them stop

It might be gas or something you are eating that is upsetting her belly. Make sure you burp her after every feeding too.

Your baby could have acid reflux and possibly becomes uncomfortable at night after nursing and is put down flat.    My baby is colicky and he cries day and night whenever he feels like it.   So if it's only at night after feeding I would speak with your pediatrician.
