Fertility advice

I know they say to wait till you have been ttc for a year to see a Dr... But doesn't that seem like you have wasted a lot of time, tears, and stress if there was a problem to start with.

My DH and I have been ttc for 9 months. I have a regular cycle, taking my prenatals, using opks, and last month tried preseed. Well, AF showed up today. I just feel like maybe we are missing something?!?! I had blood work done a year ago at my ob/gyn office and everything came back normal. I know things can change. Is it too early to contact a specialist to at least get a sperm count or something?? Could use a little advice or encouragement at this point.
