Can I drive myself?

FTM here. So I am due 8/1 and my husband travels for work. He will 100% be gone during that time. We recently moved out of state and do not have friends or family around. When it's "the time" to go to the hospital, will I be able to drive myself? The hospital is 20 minutes away and just a straight route down the freeway. I'm just curious what you all think if driving myself is an option or not

Tak a cab! A lot cheaper than an ambulance and more reliable that asking a neighbor you barely know.

Driving yourself there, possibly.  Depends on how much pain you are in and how you handle it. I seriously doubt that the hospital will let you drive yourself home though. Especially if you need a c-section.

Maybe check in to a hotel walking distance from the hospital if at all possible ?

I'm going to say no. I was in to much pain to drive. I would come up with another plan.

I drove myself with my first 2 and my 3rd I was in so much pain I couldnt. I thought I was loosing him that night but didnt. So really you never know till that time.

Just depends, you might, but if your labor comes to quick and fast you might not. Probably be good to find someone just in case of emergencies. Of course there's always ambulances, but that's with quite a heavy price tag in itself

Like most said, you might be able to, but have a backup plan just in case. Is there a neighbor you could ask to be a back up if you need them?

I'm sorry you'll be without your husband. Can you ask a long distance friend or family member to be with you? To be safe, set up a designated driver.  If no one can make it, then ask your doctor what to do. Maybe a social worker at a hospital might be able to connect you with someone. If you are a member of a religious community, there might be someone who can help you, as well. Even if you're not a member, there's churches that may want to help you. The best would be a reliable neighbor. Maybe even a taxi or über, but, then again, that could be risky and awkward. Please find someone to be with you.
