I only just started taking folic acid at 10 weeks, is this bad?

My dr didnt tell me to take any vitamins or anything, just what i can and cannot eat. I am super worried now knowing everyone else has taken folic acid and i only just started! Praying for a healthy baby now!
Thank god for this app otherwise i wouldnt know anything. FTM. First pregnancy.

You and baby will be fine :) i forget to take my vitamins..its sporatic at best but we are healthy doctor says. You could begin taking them now if youd like :)

I was traveling when I got pregnant with my first kid. I wasn't taking any prenatals or folic acid. I came back home around 13 weeks and that's when I started taking everything and I have a perfectly healthy one year old. So you will be ok just don't stress out to much :)

I am sure it might have been nice to have been taking it. I actually read somewhere today that you should take it 3 months before you conceive, as though I could have perfectly predicted that. The important thing I think is to start taking it when you know. No use getting worried about the past. You and baby are just fine.

By the way, I was told that newer idea is taking FOLATE, not folic acid which your body has to convert into folate to be useful. So maybe you can do that and be a step ahead.

A TON of stuff like pasta and cereal are fortified with folic acid (lots of it) so you are probably fine.

I've heard that folic acid is to help prevent spina bifida in which the neural tube closes around 6 weeks. Folic acid can be found in a lot of foods too, but it's always better late than never to start taking your vitamins. I was terrible at taking my prenatals, and I actually stopped and started taking flinstones around 16-17 weeks. Now 21 weeks and at 20 weeks baby was perfect!

I know plenty of ppl that didn't take prenatal or constantly missed them and their kids are fine... .. you can get your vitamins from a healthy diet if you research that... but I'm sure your baby will be just fine
