tampons??!!!

So I'm 16 and a virgin, I have been wanting to use tampons for the longest because I honestly think pads are gross but I'm too scared to try tampons but I bought a box a few months ago but I'm terrified  to put it in.....I have no clue on how to. I feel like it will get stuck. does it hurt putting it in the first time? what if I put it in wrong? HELP

I'm almost 17 and a virgin too. My mom is a doctor and has always told me that pads are better and safer for me to use at my age and as a virgin. For the fact that tampons have chemicals in the cotton and it literally goes inside you, if its left there for too long you could end up in a hospital... Anyways..... Thing is I'm a swimmer, and even if I'm on my period i have to get in the pool and swim, i was always embarrased about jumping in the pool while being on period so my captain said i had to use a tampon. I was nervous and she explained how to put it on, i used one with a plastic applicater so it slides when it goes in, it may feel a little uncomfortable but it shouldn't hurt! I personally dont think using a tampon is like losing your virginity (for the fact that you could break the hymen) but my mom thinks that way, so i only use them when i have to swim. She doesn't know but it's something i have to do. My friends or teammates are usually the one's who hook me up. I like them better than pads too. Just make sure you change it every 4-6 hrs or as indicated. You'll be fine!(:

The first time you put it in is always a little uncomfortable. Mainly 'cause you're not used to it. But it should NEVER be painful. If it hurts, you put it in wrong. Just take it out and try again with a fresh new one. Always buy plastic applicator ones, they don't hurt when you slide it in. It will usually indicated the applicator type on the box. Good luck!

I'm 15 and have been using tampons for 2 years and they are way more convenient than pads! It doesn't really hurt and I've never had an issue with them! You can't feel it either once the tampon is in. There are instructions on how to insert one in the tampon box, good luck!
