Baby boy being a Jr.?

Hey ladies...!

So my boyfriend & I have been together for almost 5 years. This is his first.. If it's a boy, he wants baby to be a jr.. I love the idea; being his first baby & first born son...but we're not married yet. Am I just over thinking?

Do you not plan to give the child his last name bc you're not married? I personally don't see why marriage has to play a part in the child's name. You two have a long term relationship and you know it's his child. I assume you feel confident that he will continue to be in the child's life as well as yours. I see no issues with naming him jr.

Ahhh that's a tough spot! A "Jr" is not personally for me but I don't think you're over thinking it!

If it's a boy we are naming him after my SO. We are engaged now and will be married by the time the baby comes, and I love this idea. But I'm your case, since you're not married, are you questioning it because you're afraid you won't be together forever? In this case, my fiancé is also a Jr. and his mom named him after the father when they were together but never married, and not long after, they broke up. I'm not sure exactly how she feels about this but her son (my fiancé) and his name will obviously always remind her of the father. I think she always loved him because they had a child together, but he was not mature enough to raise a child and she moved on to a better man that she has now been married to for 20 years that my fiancé was basically raised by. I'm not sure if this helps but all in all, I don't think she regrets naming him after the father, and because I think it is a great name, if our child is a boy, he will be a third (III).
