Drinking wine in 2nd Trimester?

Question

My Doctor says once a week is fine, but there are also mom's who have said they had a few glasses a week.  I'm curious if there are any other moms out there who agree.  No judgement just curious

Alcohol is alcohol, why would you? Is my question. 
Not passing judgement but why can't woman wait to drink till after you have the baby. 
One drink of alcohol can cause f.a.s. Why chance it?

My doctor also told me in moderation a glass of wine was perfectly fine. 
Frankly, I'm going to listen to him instead of a bunch of women who have never gone to medical school lol 
I have had about 2 small sips of wine through this entire pregnancy (I'm 25 weeks now) but if I wanted to have a glass of wine I would. And my doctor would be completely fine with it :)

I don't care how safe red wine is, they say 8 oz a day is safe. I don't give a crap what is "safe" I'm not drinking any alcohol. If it's in my blood then my baby gets it too. This red wine is good for your heart crap can go out the window. My baby will not have fetal alcohol syndrome because I won't let there be any chances of that.

I personally can wait 9 months to drink. I have an old friend who had a baby die of fetal alcohol syndrome. She found out she was pregnant at 6 weeks and didn't touch alcohol after that but it was already too late. I know the second trimester is different and but seeing her have to give birth to her stillborn baby at 20 weeks was enough to make me always take a pregnancy test before I went out for girls night and to not touch a drop. I personally wouldn't drink anymore than your care provider recommended. If the doctor says only one glass a week then it's probably not a good idea to have more than that.

When I was pregnant with my son I craved red wine. The doctor said it was okay to have a few ounces a day; that my body was craving something in the wine.

That's odd your doctor said that. A very popular, large study was just published that says no amount of wine is good and they are finding effects in even small amounts (brain issues and such). A lot of it isn't obvious fetal alcohol syndrome but just lower intelligence. You can find the study in some of the online medical reports, apparently.

I would love a glass of wine, forgot once a week even once during this pregnancy. But will I have one no, because its not worth hurting my baby over, or even taking a chance of hurting my baby I'll wait till I pop the little one out and enjoy a bottle.

You are putting that kid WAYYYYY behind the 8 Ball!! You will not be able to forgive yourself!! Especially when they have visible defects (Mental or Physical)!! Better leave that Juice alone!!

My doctor said no way..  But i guess it boils down to what can you live with..  The potential of causing a preventable disorder or not..
