Grief and Loss Coping Techniques
I've lose three family members in less than three years. My grandmother in May 2013 (heart attack, 76), my brother in August 2013 (suicide, 23), and my grandfather this last Thursday (poor health/old age, 85).
I've also lost two friends, so yes, my level of grief and depression are rather high.
I just wanted to share some of my coping techniques.
1. Exercise - I get up and move. Take my dog for a walk. Walk around the mall/grocery store. Dance in my bedroom. Anything.
2. Color: I have about 10 different adult coloring books, and some high-quality colored pencils. It's very therapeutic.
3. Play video games: I play Fallout, Sims, Spyro, Harry Potter, and a few more. They're a great escape from a heartbreaking world.
