Bleeding? *possible Tmi info

So, I wasn't sure where to post this, so here it is. I thought I started my period yesterday, there was blood, but not much. Today I had a medium amount of brown spotting. Masturbated (no penetration) and started up again, bright red blood. It probably won't last long, though. Is this my period or what?
