Any cancer survivors? Your story is needed.

Question

A friend of mine was just diagnosed with lukemia and is extremely depressed. Share some stories for me. It can be about a family member or a friend or yourself. Let her know that this isn't a death sentence.

I have Leukemia. I was diagnosed when I was 19, I'm 30 now. I have had about 20 bone marrow biopsies, froze embryos about 6 years ago, have held a chemical remission (because of the daily chemo) and am now pregnant through IVF (because of the timing requirement of going off chemo, etc) on a different version of chemo that's safe for pregnancy, but has shitty side effects. I would recommend she find support groups, even online helps. I have a group of about 30 women I found about 10 years ago that have become family, I couldn't do/have done it without them!

2 stories: my grandpa was diagnosed with skin cancer and some other complications and was told he wouldn't make it pass that year. We are talking about a few years back. He is 95 now and going strong. The other is my FIL he was diagnosed last year with lung cancer also along with other complications and he got really bad to the point that he lost all his hair, has two tubes that are on his throat and stomach which is where he eats and he could not even say a word. Sadly the drs thought he was a goner. But with Gods help and new treatment he was able to recover and surprised my SO that other day by going to his house & him opening the door by himself. Plus he is getting his hair back. Tell your friend not to lose hope so quickly and to hope for the best. Prayers❤

A really good family friend was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma about two years ago, she fought it, and beat it, but it came back about six months ago. She just got the clear a few weeks ago that it's gone again after tons of fighting, meds, and support. She's one of the strongest people I know. :)

My mom had Colon cancer back in 2005 & after many treatments, bloodwork, multiple trips to different doctors every week or more & many emotions, she finally beat it and has now been cancer free for 10 years!! I pray for your friend that she will get thru this & it's awesome she has support from you!

My mum has cervical cancer at 21. She had part of her cervix removed and has gone on to have 4 kids and she's in her 50s and leads a very happy fulfilling life and has never had a relapse.
