Braxton Hicks or Real Contractions?

Question

So last night I experienced really bad pain. Around 10pm my stomach felt like it was cramping really badly. Then around 12am a new set of pain which was far worse then the first set occurred. This pain was extreme!  I couldn't move, barely could breathe, I cried like a big baby. I tried going to the bathroom and I could barely stand straight due to pain. Did I have real contractions or is this Braxton Hicks??

If the contractions went away, BH. Once they get consistant in time and length for an hour long. 5-7 mins apart lasting approx 45 secs to a min that when they are probably the real thing.
