Eat placenta?

Has anyone heard of mothers eating the placenta after giving birth? My husband just read something on it and I had never heard of such a thing. Are you planning to do this? Why?

I have actually read several studies/articles that state that there is no scientifically proven correlation between eating your placenta and having that result in all these health benefits. In some cases it can actually be risky and cause illness. However, some women believe that eating their placenta was beneficial for them. I am no medical professional, but I would recommend doing plenty of research and talking to your doctor to ensure you make the best and safest decision for you personally. :)

I'm going to give it a go. Having the placenta made into capsules will cost me about $200 here so why not - it's not like I'm going to be chewing down on it raw and it's a small price for the help it may provide. Friends of mine that did it, swear by the benefits ☺

I've heard you can get it put into capsules so that you get all the health benefits without the gross factor lol personally I wouldn't want to eat something that came out of my own body but it has a lot of health benefits

Yes it has wonderful benefits. Definitely helps with milk production and pp depression. It sounds really weird but it's like taking a vitamin lol you can make it into a capsules. You can find dulas near you that might do it.

Some people absolutely swear by it. From what I read there's no scientific research backing their claims. So maybe it's the placebo effect? More power to the women who want to do it. I won't be ingesting mine.

Yes I've heard it.. Some say it helps pp depression .. Not sure myself. I don't plan on doing it! I've heard you can drink or eat it. 😷

Yes I've heard of it.. Some make capsules out of their placentas and have them. Is said that it helps moms to lactate more and also helps in post partum depression.

Yup def heard of it. It has excellent benefits, but scares me a little. I respect people's wishes to do it and if I had the guts I'd probably do it too.

Apparently it has amazing nutritional value. I've never done any research. My SO wants to do that, I could never I told him no... I've heard though that in other cultures It is considered a delicacy and a ritual for good health.
