Dear daddy letter?

I need help to write my dad a personal letter. I'm 15 and I don't have any freedom outside of my house. He can't except that I have a boyfriend, that I want to sleep over friends houses, or go shopping, or spend time with my friends, go to parties, friends houses. Just Anything.. I need an heart warming letter explaining to him that I'm not his hopeless little baby anymore and that I can stand on my own two feet. that I don't need him to be there with me every step I take.. I really can't take being there anymore.

Answer

First off, don't say "daddy I'm  15 I'm an adult". Or anything dumb like that. Tell him you love him and that he has done an amazing job raising his daughter. But tell him there is a point in a girls life where she needs to start to morph into a woman. And this is around high school time. And this new chapter in your life isn't cutting him out, but broadens your horizons. This means that you are no longer in the bubble that was your parents home. He has done what he can from inside the bubble. But now, he has to help you grow outside the bubble. Because the real world is a tough place. But with him by your side, the transitioning to adulthood will be that much easier.
