Amniotic band syndrome???

I'm 24 weeks today, Thursday we'll be sent to the high risk doctors in another state to follow the remainder of the pregnancy. Everything was going so well, until it just wasn't. Has anyone ever had this before? Any good outcomes? The more I look into this the more it looks like every parents worst nightmare wrapped into one horrible syndrome...

It happens when the inner sack ruptures but the outer sack remains intact. Portions on the sack float freely in the amniotic fluid. A portion of the baby (or even the cord) can become entangled in the ribbon like pieces of the sack. In my case, there wasn't any entanglement. Once he became a certain size, my doctor said the band was no longer a threat, because the band was too small.

I hope things turn out well for you and baby. Try not to worry too much until you see the specialist. They have the very best ultrasound equipment, and are very knowledgeable. If there is a problem, it might be mild and correctable. Praying for you!

Hi!  I have heard of ABS before and the severity really depends on where the band(s) is and how tight it is. As your pregnancy progresses, your dr will be able to give you better information regarding prognosis and what to expect.  Try to stay positive, and I know that is easier said than done when talking about our babies. Just know that there was nothing you did to cause this, and no amount of healthy dieting/exercise/rest/vitamins that could have prevented it.  I hope this helps and if you need anyone to talk to, you can reach out to me ❤️
