If you child is interracial, would you teach your child that he/she both races or just one race?

I'm only asking cuz I see it all the time. My nephew is 1/2 Sicilian and 1/2 Puerto Rican and we as a family always taught him both cultures but I see some parents tell their child they are just one race! So I just wanted to hear what would you teach your kids if they interracial!

My ex sister in law was teaching my nephews that they are only Puerto Rican and not half Mexican and half Puerto Rican now they are ashame to the point that they roll their eyes when my brother corrects them when they are with him.. lets just say my brother divorced her bc of it. If you dont want to teach your child both cultures than why fuck someone thats not from your same race? You made your choice and its not the kids fault.

Definitely my daughters are half white and half black. I want her to be proud to be both races. I know someone who's ashamed to to be half black that she lies and say she's half Puerto Rican I don't want my daughters to be ashamed of who they are.

My children are Guyanese and Puerto Rican. I fell showing them where the come from is huge part of who they are . They spend time with their fathers family who are straight from Guyana and they teach them their culture and with my family they are taught about their Puerto Rican side. I feel like its a beautiful thing my kids are mixed which two different beautiful cultures ❤

Not only is it there right to know there roots, but for health concerns. When they get older and need to go to the doctor and ask you if you are mixed with any other race, and you say "NO" you could miss out on potential health risks. Also if they later find out that they are mixed, they might turn and feel lied to, or have some kind of remorse towards the parents for not communicating.

My daughter isn't mixed, but if she was I would definitely teach her about all of who she is. I was raised very Italian and, as it is, she'll learn a lot about that culture because it's part of her. I'd feel the same way about it if she were mixed race. I feel like when you start teaching a child to repress part of who they are, you teach them to be ashamed of that part of themselves. Not in this family!

I would teach my kids about different races cultures and so on even if there just one race...I think diversity is a beautiful thing....just my thoughts...but if I had a child who was interracial I would most def teach about both :)
