Baby shower drama

A person was a very close friend but a year and a half ago she physically abused two little kids she was nannying since then things have been very different. She had been convicted and is now on probation. Once I got pregnant I really have been distancing myself from her because I don't really want to endanger my child. We have many mutual friends who are like family so I can't completely ditch her and never see her again but I'm not putting her on an environment where there are little kids. So I didn't invite her to my shower since it's all about my baby who's life she won't be involved in and I have many friends bringing  their young children. She texted my yesterday saying, "(mutual friend) says your baby shower is Saturday. Is this so?" I haven't responded yet because I don't know what to say without making things really uncomfortable when she is at mutual friends' stuff. I'm not willing to make the mothers uncomfortable by having her there and I'm frankly a bit ticked off that someone would ask about a shower they weren't invited to. Any ideas on how to tell her she wasn't invited without making things super awkward?
