Will the hospital allow me to drive to home after birth?

I live in a small town by myself, I went away for school and my relatives are 6 hours away. They want me to come out there and have my baby in order for them to help but its an inconvenience to me so I was wondering if I go into labor where I live, the hospital is only 6 minutes away, will the nurses allow me to drive home by myself. Everything is fine as far as the pregnancy no issues.

My discharge instructions have always been that I'm not allowed to drive for a few days so I'm going to go with no.

Yeah my discharge instructions said the same. No driving. So no. My husband always drives anyway. Not to mention if this is your first baby, you will not want to sit anywhere but in the back with baby. I'm serious anytime my husband hit a bump with our oldest I gasped so loud! Hahaha

It's incredibly unsafe to drive for at least two weeks post partum. Your uterus at that point is still above your pelvic bone and not portected from injury. Since the uterus is exactly at steering wheel level, even a small rear-end accident can cause trauma to the uterus and can hemorrhage very easily. After two weeks, your uterus is back to its original hiding spot under the pelvic bone which makes it protected and safe to drive again.

I have 2 babies and I have never heard thr no driving for 2 weeks recommendation.  While,  I have never drove after being released from the hospital, I have drove a couple days later with no problem. I would agree with the above though,  to have someone drive you home.  You will be exhausted. Sleep in the hospital is awful. Even though it's a short drive for you,  your response time will be delayed from fatigue and possibly distracted by the cute little bundle in the back. Not worth the risk.

I drove within 24hours of a natural vaginal delivery doctor said it was fine if i was up to it so i say yes you can drive yourself home if its not to far

Nope, you'll need someone to drive you home. You'll be bleeding too heavily to drive safely, and if you have a C-section you may also be using pain meds and your core muscles will be weak so sitting will be hard
